Former governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi has promised to release the second part of the audio recording which allegedly implicated some persons of election rigging in the June 2014 Ekiti State governorship election.
According to YNaija, Fayemi made the disclosure on Sunday, February 8, during his 50th birthday thanksgiving service at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area.
He said: “Those who denied that they were not the ones will hear the second part of the recording and they will keep quiet. Justice belongs to God. God will vindicate us because we have worked hard for our people.”
The recording, which was on Sahara Reporters, purportedly captures the voices of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, a military general who was in charge of the election, Senator Iyiola Omisore and former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, in a meeting where they allegedly gave directives to the military to favour the Peoples Democratic Party.
Governor Fayose and Musiliu Obanikoro have however denied ever holding any meeting with anyone to rig election. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, on Friday, February 6, according to Punch, the governor described the audio clip as a new calculated attempt by the All Progressives Congress to discredit the election results.
